REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDITIONING BY VIDEO
Video auditions are accepted on an ongoing basis. The auditioning dancer should be easily identifiable in the video.
Additional instructions for auditioning by means of video may be obtained by emailing info@therockschool.org.
Dancers will receive results via email. Please allow up to two weeks to receive audition results.
Students are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each audition video must be prepared in accordance with The Rock School’s specifications and submitted with a non-refundable audition fee. Videos will not be reviewed without submission of payment.
Film horizontal. Total length: No longer than 10 minutes
BARRE WORK
Tendu, fondu, développé, grands battements: each front, side and back (both sides of each combination are not necessary, please alternate sides, all shot in 3/4 profile).
CENTER WORK
Adagio with promenade (2X8). Pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, petit allegro with batterie, grand allegro with saut de chat and tour jeté (filmed en avant both sides).
POINTE (Only for student with 6 months or more pointe training)
At the barre: échappés and plié relevés on one foot (facing barre). Passés and pique arabesque - right and left (shown in profile).
TRADITIONAL MEN'S WORK
Tour en l’air (right and left), turns in second (one side).
Please demonstrate steps that you have learned and are comfortable dancing.
Center work en pointe for advanced students. Please consult your teacher for approval.
Students may include a classical and/or contemporary variations if available (NOT required).
