NOVEMBER Early Acceptance Auditions

Dancers who are accepted from Early Acceptance Auditions can register for summer programs one month before the National Audition Tour begins. Note that some Professional Division applicants may need further assessment during Ballet Intensive.

FEBRUARY Ballet Intensive fills to capacity
Ballet Intensive typically reaches capacity in February. Video auditions are still accepted, however, a waitlist is to be expected.

MARCH Professional Division Enrollment
2027-2028 Professional Division Intent to Enroll deposits are due. School year dormitory typically nears maximum capacity at this time.

JUNE/ JULY Professional Division Intake Form and 1st Tuition Installment Due

SUMMER Professional Division Auditions during Ballet Intensive
Available to Ballet Intensive participants only. Spots in the 2027-2028 Professional Division are limited by this point in the enrollment cycle. A waitlist is to be expected.

Dancers have the option auditioning in-person, by video submission, or virtually. Virtual auditions are for summer programming only. Dancers who audition in-person or by video may also choose to be evaluated for the Professional Division. Video audition adjudication begins on January 4. Audition results will be sent via email 2-3 weeks after the audition.

Pre-registration is available for a fee of $50. Audition spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Audition fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Pre-registration for in-person auditions closes at 12PM EST on the Tuesday before the audition, or when the registrants list has reached capacity. Walk-in registration is available for a fee of $50 if space permits. All dancers will receive an audition confirmation email for their specific audition location no later than 24 hours before the scheduled audition.

REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDITIONING BY VIDEO

School year students wishing to audition by video please email info@therockschool.org.

Video auditions are accepted on an ongoing basis. The auditioning dancer should be easily identifiable in the video.

Additional instructions for auditioning by means of video may be obtained by emailing info@therockschool.org.

Dancers will receive results via email. Please allow up to two weeks to receive audition results.

Students are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each audition video must be prepared in accordance with The Rock School’s specifications and submitted with a non-refundable audition fee. Videos will not be reviewed without submission of payment.

Film horizontal. Total length: No longer than 10 minutes

BARRE WORK
Tendu, fondu, développé, grands battements: each front, side and back (both sides of each combination are not necessary, please alternate sides, all shot in 3/4 profile).

CENTER WORK
Adagio with promenade (2X8). Pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, petit allegro with batterie, grand allegro with saut de chat and tour jeté (filmed en avant both sides).

POINTE (Only for student with 6 months or more pointe training)
At the barre: échappés and plié relevés on one foot (facing barre). Passés and pique arabesque - right and left (shown in profile). Dancers newly en pointe may complete their pointe work at the barre.  For older, more advanced dancers, it is helpful to see some pointe work in the center.

TRADITIONAL MEN'S WORK
Tour en l’air (right and left), turns in second (one side).

Please demonstrate steps that you have learned and are comfortable dancing.

Center work en pointe for advanced students. Please consult your teacher for approval.

Students may include a classical and/or contemporary variations if available (NOT required).
