Whether you’re a dedicated dancer looking to advance yourself as a dance professional or a parent looking to enroll your son or daughter in their first ballet class, The Rock School has something for you:
YEAR SESSION
The Rock School Year Session is separated into several divisions: Early Dance, Primary Division, Formal Division and Professional Division. Students are placed into a division and then appropriately leveled into classes that fit their individual needs. Classes are held September to June, Monday through Saturday, at a frequency that is appropriate for each level and age group. The school year is divided into four quarters.
All Students from the age of 9 and above are to audition for placement into The Rock School, regardless of how much ballet experience the student has had.
For students interested in intensive ballet study, The Rock School offers variety of programs, in and out of the dance studio, to help these students accomplish their goals:
RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The Rock School provides a Residence Program for students 14 and above. Located across the street from The Rock Centre in Philadelphia, providing easy access to our daily ballet classes. It is not a requirement for the students to reside in the dorm while studying at The Rock School, but it provides an option for all students (especially out-of-state and international students) to dedicate themselves to the study of ballet while not having to worry about living alone or commuting.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
Most students over the age of 14 who attend intensive ballet classes at The Rock Centre also participate in The Rock Academic Program Alliance (RAPA), an on-site college preparatory high school academic program facilitated by an on-site Dean, an Advisor and tutors. Students receive an accredited PA high school diploma.
This arrangement makes it possible for the aspiring dance student to focus on perfecting his or her ballet technique while still fulfilling the Pennsylvania Department of Education's high school requirements.
